I released the 'Free CD' into the wild a concert with Tim Bowness in Toronto on 10th September, 2002, as an experiment in distribution. The only price of receiving the album was this: "If you like it, make a two or more copies for friends you think might like it. If you don't like it, please pass on your copy to someone who might."
The two copies I gave out rapidly multiplied, in particular due to the efforts of human CD writer John Delorso. It's hard to gauge exactly, but I believe there are 500+ copies out there. I know one had made it to Anchorage, Alaska and I once had the experience of seeing it being passed between two people at a meal in England. I've no idea how what route it had taken there.
Most of the tracks were written especially for the compilation, with the exception of the two songs, which are 'work in progress' for album of songs I may or may not complete. Feedback is always welcome!
Thanks to improvements to web hosting in the intervening years, it's now practical for me to give it away as a free download. Of course, if you like it, you're still very welcome to make copies for friends. Or if you prefer, you could buy something else of mine! The notes which follow give a bit more of the background, and also (and here's the marketing bit!) suggest albums in a similar vein available on www.burningshed.com.
